Don’t Use Dreamhost

Jeff J. Snider General, Web Stuff

To everyone I have ever referred to Dreamhost for all your web hosting needs, I offer a sincere apology, and I promise to never do it again.

I didn’t mean to lie to you. The fact is, for the first 18 months I was with them, they really were great. Sure, their support was slow and lousy, but I figured, if I never need support, who cares how slow and lousy it is? Unfortunately, no one NEVER needs support. And boy oh boy, have I ever needed support the last few months.

Today’s Pet Peeve

Jeff J. Snider General, Sports

mis·no·mer
n.

  1. An error in naming a person or place.
    1. Application of a wrong name.
    2. A name wrongly or unsuitably applied to a person or an object.

A few weeks ago, I was watching Baseball Tonight, and John Kruk said:

One of the biggest misnomers in baseball is that left-handed hitters can’t hit left-handed pitchers.

I assumed it was just Kruk’s individual stupidity, but now I am watching the World Cup as I work, and I just head Dave O’Brien say:

The notion that you can’t use your hands in soccer is somewhat of a misnomer.

Wow.

Chase Visa made good!

Jeff J. Snider General, Personal & Family

Check out this email I just received from Chase Visa. It is nice to see that once you get past the bureaucracy, Chase really does care about their customers. I don’t know if they really understand my point, but I don’t really care, because they made good on their original promise.

“We Made Out” is Back!

Jeff J. Snider General, Web Stuff

Well, really, it was never gone, but it was pretty stagnant for several months. That’s right, the site that my brother made famous and I made great, We Made Out In A Tree And This Old Guy Sat And Watched Us, is back with a new design and fresh new content. Here are some of the highlights of the new site:

Who is this man???

Jeff J. Snider General, Sports, TV & Movies

So I watch WWE wrestling on TV for four hours every week. Well, four hours worth of programming, although I probably only spend about two hours on it, thanks to the wonders of DVR and the fact that people like Chris Masters are so fast-forwardable. But anyway, it’s the first paragraph, and I have already digressed.

The Yankees are mad at Buck Showalter for pulling his stars early in their final game on Sunday. Are they right to be upset?

Happy “Talk Like A Pirate Day”

Jeff J. Snider General

Today is “Talk Like A Pirate Day”! In honor of this special day, I would like to share my favorite pirate joke. It may not be suitable for all viewers, specifically viewers who are opposed to jokes about pirates’ crotches.
