The Impact of Jason Grimsley

June 8th, 2006 at 12:43pm Jeff J. Snider Sports

Jason Grimsley got caught with human growth hormome (HGH), and I couldn’t be happier. Why? Because now baseball will do something about it, either by choice or by congressional force. I don’t have anything to say that hasn’t been said about Grimsley, except that I am overjoyed.

But I wouldn’t be surprised if Barry Bonds’ latest injury leads to his retirement. Could it be that this wasn’t a coincidence? That Bonds isn’t really hurt, but just anticipating the upcoming rules that will prevent him from using his juice of choice? It would look pretty suspicious if Bonds up and retired the day they announce the stricter standards, so maybe he made a preemptive move and came up with an injury that will force his retirement before the new rules take effect. I have no proof, of course, but that’s what I expect to happen.
